Is it possible to just walk a half marathon?
I haven’t trained at all for the Walt Disney World princess Half Marathon coming up in February. The pace is 16 minutes/ mile. I can run 5K no problem but is it possible to just walk it? Has anyone done this before? I could probably run/walk but what would be a good pacing for that? Thanks!
Could you give some advice?
If you can run a 5K without a problem, then you should be able to run the whole Half Marathon. Trust me, YOU CAN do it. It’s not very hard. I used to do sub 19 5Ks when i was 15 years old. But anything above 5K was horrible. Used to struggle with even a 43 minute 10K. If you take it nice and easy, you’ll be able to run the whole thing. I did my first Half Marathon when I was 16. And honestly, I did no endurance training at all. The only thing I had was my 5K pb. I went out nice and easy. It started getting really hard at mile 5. But I just started slowing down a little when it got hard and speeding up when it was easy. Mind you, don’t speed up or slow down TOO much. Just enough to get some breathing space. I finished in a time of 1:28:18. You don’t have to walk the whole thing. It may be more exhausting too as it will definitely take you more than 3 hours to finish walking. Might even take you 4 hours depending on your walking speed. Moreover, I’m sure at least 90% of the competitors are planning to run the whole thing. So why not go to the start line with a mentality to run the whole thing. Then even if you begin walking, you’d have a better chance of finishing.
